Halloween Hooter Owl by Tapestry Fair

Hi Everybody... Robin here.

I am in love... with Halloween Hooter Owl.

Halloween Hooter Owl
Tapestry Fair • #833
Stitch Guide from Tapestry Fair

He is from Tapestry Fair • #833, and was designed & stitched by Peggi Hageman/owner of Tapestry Fair, Phoenix, AZ.

A few months ago, Peggi gave me another charting assignment: to chart her diagrams and stitches used in Halloween Hooter Owl. What an honor.

First, let's set the scene. Halloween Hooter Owl is a 3-D canvas, and is on 18 mesh. He stands about 10" tall. He is a multiple-canvas project as there is a Head, Front Body, Back Body, Right Wing, Left Wing, and two Feet to be stitched. 11 canvas pieces in total.

The Halloween Hooter Owl canvas comes with Stitch Guide. He would make a great Club or stitching series, don't you think?

Peggi has written a lovely stitch guide. She sent her stitch drawings, and I charted them in the computer.

For example: this is what I was given (love to see original art from artists)...

... and this is my charted interpretation for the Stitch Guide.

Oh, the things I learned!

Peggi's stitch selections are the best. Because Halloween Hooter is an Owl, she gave wonderful "feather stitches" looking straight on to the viewer, diagonal, and oblique; right side and left side, too... just as feathers would in real life. So valuable.

So, what if you are saying... I love the 3-D Owl, but I'm not too crazy about Halloween? Picking myself up off the floor as I typed that sentence...  not to worry, Peggi has thought about that, too.

Tapestry Fair has a non-Hallowen 3-D Hooter Owl version with only the feathers painted, leaving the rest of the designs up to the stitcher -- can be filled in with school logos, holiday graphics or just different stitches.

Tapestry Fair • #834

His name and number is Owl for All Seasons #834. Again, on 18 mesh and 10" tall.

You can order your favorite version of this cute Owl from your Favorite Needlepoint Shop.

Thanks, also to Carolyn Hedge Baird who took photos of Halloween Hooter Owl while at the TNNA Long Beach Market. I really appreciate you being everywhere I wasn't able to be.

TNNA / Long Beach 2013 recap - part 3

Hi Everybody... Robin here.

Continuing my TNNA / Long Beach 2013 journal...

While walking the aisles I saw more new things:

Look at the fine jewelry quality Chains from Embellishments Plus! Look at their pretty Beads, too.

Just the perfect accent.
Beads make me happy.

Also, in the Embellishments Plus! booth, one of the Manuel Salas canvases from Tapestry Fair was on display: Un Pocito De Color (MS-3). Beautifully, creatively stitched by Sherry Bray from Queen Anne Stitches in California.

Sherry's talents are a-mazing! I studied and studied this piece. Absolutely brilliant. If you ever get the opportunity, take a class with Sherry. Purchase one of her stitch guides. Anything! You will be glad you did.

I stopped in to see another Facebook friend, Barbi from Canvas Art by barbi, located in Gilbert, AZ. Barbi had some fun designs. I like her alphabets. Nice "R"... don't you think? Here is a link to her website:  http://www.canvasartbybarbi.com/

There was a "celebrity" visitor to the NeedleDeeva booth: Timothy the Spider.

Here's the back story: Timothy is from the creative forces of Associated Talents. Last year, he began to travel outside of his booth and visit other designers and models. Timothy now has a Facebook page. In his photo albums, you can see how much that little spider gets around!

No cupcakes were harmed in the taking of this photo.
The Sugar Skulls were so happy to see Timothy... just look at the smiles on their faces.

More things to share. Stop by again, OK? Until then... Hugs, Robin

Tapestry Fair and The Painted Elephant

Hi Everybody... Robin here.

I had another fun charting job come my way.

This time it was from Peggi at Tapestry Fair. I met Peggi while attending the Phoenix TNNA Market this past January 2012. Nice lady.

I know you are familiar with the Tapestry Fair line of canvases. Most recently, you have seen blogging by Jane from Chily Hollow about the Manuel Salas "Day of the Dead" canvas she is stitching; distributed by Tapestry Fair. Here's their website. Take a look all of their wonderful designs.

Your LNS can order any of them for you. http://www.tapestryfair.com

Peggi was needing me to chart some icons for the upcoming class being taught by Linda Corirossi called The Painted Elephant.

This information came from the Tapestry Fair blog:

The Painted Elephant (#636) by Tapestry Fair
Class taught by Linda Corirossi

Here is a summary of the class:
Choose your colors, raid your jewelry box for bling, and join Linda Corirossi for a series of classes to "paint" your own elephant.
The class includes a line drawn canvas, stitch planning "map", and a stitch guide including picture graphs to decorate your elephant. With Linda's guidance, each elephant will be exotic and original.
The first elephant class will be help October 19th, 20th and 21st at Family Arts Needlework in Phoenix, AZ.
To contact Linda about giving this class at your shop, call (847) 942-2120 or email:  lcorirossi@sbcglobal.net
So, exactly what did I do? Peggi sent me several pages of graph paper with icons in colored squares. I made a graph grid in the computer, and then colored the boxes in the same sequence; creating these endearing icons. It was a new task to learn and was fun doing so. When I was finished,  a 4-page PDF of the 27 icons/components was ready to become part of the stitch guide.

I would love to take this class. I have been a fan of Linda Corirossi for many years. I have both of her books. You have them, too... right?

Canvas Embellishment by Linda  Corirossi
Canvas Embellishment (The Sequel) by Linda  Corirossi

I use these books often when writing stitch guides as well as for my own personal stitching. Like I said, I would love to meet Linda. If any of you take the class, be sure to let us see your progress and hear about your experience. When you stitch the little bird, you can think of me.

Until the next time... Hugs, Robin

TNNA / Phoenix - day two

Hi Everybody... Robin here... in Phoenix.

Saturday was the first day of Market. What an exciting day. Right before 10AM, all of the Shop Owners were collected in the gathering/holding area; dignitaries were present for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. There was anticipation... a buzz in the room for the Shop Owners to show up. Show up and shop... they did! Katy bar the door! The Winter Market 2012 was open for business.

Wearing my purple apron in the NeedleDeeva booth, I saw familiar faces and met new faces, too. I wrote down orders and pointed out: What's New and upcoming in the NeedleDeeva booth. How exciting!

Lisa & Emily from Nashville Needleworks brought a wonderful model to display in the NeedleDeeva booth. It was a show stopper... and the show had only been open for 35 minutes! Look how awesome the NeedleDeeva canvas  looks on the bag. Contact Nashville Needleworks for the stitch guide. It's a beauty.

Lunchtime was the first min-lull. I took advantage to begin looking for canvases which appealed to me. My first stop: Tapestry Fair from Phoenix, AZ. With permission, I took a few photos. You know me: Cats, Cute, Halloween... in that order! Look what I found:

Tapestry Fair / Anne Jerlow Designs • Garden Cats
Tapestry Fair / MS 1, 2 and 3
The Manuel Salas canvases were enticing to see up close and in person. It will be fun to watch Jane/Chilly Hollow stitch her canvas with the purple background.

Next stop was Little Shoppe Canvas Company. I am such a fan of their 3D work, their book: Stitch  Landscapes and their App of the same title. My attention was drawn to their new Halloween Witch Hats. So cute. There are 12 new designs. Which ones do I want? I want them all.

Across the aisle from them was DJ Designs from San Francisco, CA. The Dog and Cat canvases were heart-warming to see.

A new crowd was gathering around the NeedleDeeva booth, so I returned to write more orders. The time flew by. I know I am going to sleep good tonight.

Looking forward to showing you more things from Market. Until then... Hugs, Robin
