A new design from A Poore Girl Paints

Hi Everybody... Robin here.

Do you ever have a slogan in your head?... a re-occuring saying which applies to you on a daily basis?

Do you think to yourself, "This saying would make a great needlepoint pillow!"

Do your pets look at you... trying to connect intellects? (I'm often the one missing the connection in this scenario.  >^..^< )

My sister stitched a certain needlepoint canvas years ago... well, actually now decades ago!... and I've been looking for the same message to stitch. Alas, to deaf ears.

A Poore Girl Paints has made my dream come true! Looks what just came off the designer's painting table!!! 😊

What part of MEOW do you not understand?

I can't wait to stitch the MEOW version.

... and to not leave out the Dog lovers out... there is one for you, too... WOOF!

A Poore Girl Paints is available thru individual needlepoint shops. If you don't have a local needlepoint shop, contact Leigh at info@theneedlebug.com or call (334) 270-0064. Wholesale inquiries can be sent to walkerswholesale@gmail.com or call (334) 270-0064.

When I get my canvas on the bars, I will have an impromptu "stitch along" with Robin. It will be fun to hold the needle again!

Thank you, Amy Poore!

Until the next time... HUGS!  Robin

Robin meets A Poore Girl Paints Needlepoint Design

Hi Everybody... Robin here.

Last week we talked about teaching at The Needle Bug in Montgomery, AL. I met one of their customers, Amy Poore, who was taking my class. Very vivacious and engaging. A fun person to be around ... and a talented stitcher, too.

Turns out, Amy is also a needlepoint designer. Her company is A Poore Girl Paints. Clever name, right? 😊  I'd like to introduce her to the viewers on the Needlepoint Study Hall blog.

I asked Amy how she started her needlepoint design business, A Poore Girl Paints. Here's what she said...
"I started stitching about 3 years ago and around a year ago I started painting things for myself - things I couldn't readily find available. I found that other people liked those types of designs as well. I really wanted to bring Needlepoint to the next generation, and I think my canvases relate to that generation, along with other generations. I've started also teaching beginner Needlepoint classes to my friends in hopes of finding new people to fall in love with my favorite addiction."  Amy Poore, owner
How lucky are we to have Amy's fresh vision and passion join our needlepoint industry!

While I was teaching at The Needle Bug, new canvases from A Poore Girl Paints had just arrived from the painting service. It was like Christmas 🎄, Valentines 💘, and Halloween 🎃 all rolled up into one thrilling reveal! Here are a few which caught my eye.

(Note, I added the Watermarks to the canvases to protect her designs while on the Blog. Of course, your canvases will come pretty without Watermarks.)

A Poore Girl Paints is very savvy with social media. (I'm taking notes, Amy. 😊) Look for her on Facebook as well as Instagram. You will want to follow for sure! Here are those links:

A Poore Girl Paints has been in business for a few years; check out her website and see all of their designs. Amy covers the holidays as well as modern-day messages. She's keeping us youthful and relevant... and that's a good thing! 😊

Robin teaches at The Needle Bug - November 2017

Hi Everybody... Robin here.

Hope each and everyone of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I missed this past Sunday's blogging date because I was wrapping up my last teaching destination for 2017. I was at The Needle Bug. I'd like to share my experiences.

The Needle Bug is owned by Leigh Miller. As a life long Montgomery, AL resident, she knows everybody. Or, at least it seems like it. So when you go to The Needle Bug, you feel welcomed immediately. #SouthernHospitality

The Needle Bug is a full-service needlepoint shop: threads, canvases, books, accessories. They have it all... which makes for a nice teaching experience.

The classroom is very comfortable with good lighting and comfy chairs. The shop is brimming with enticing canvases and gadgets to enhance your stitching needs.

Leigh Miller also is an extraordinary event planner. One evening after class, we boarded a travel van/bus to Brundidge, Alabama to watch "Come Home, It's Suppertime!" presented by the Brundidge Historical Society. It was a dinner theater experience complete with singing. Dinner was tasty! Fried Chicken, Turnip Greens, Black Eyed Peas, Sweet Potatoes, and Hoe Cakes. YUM.

down home good cooking!

The play told stories about life in the South. We met one of the actors before the show began. I nicknamed him the George Clooney of Brundidge. 😊

one of the stars of the Show!

We had a good time. Thanks, Leigh for the memories! I will be returning to The Needle Bug in 2018: March and November. Look forward to seeing you there.

a stitch for you.

I already have next week's blog topic in mind. In my class at The Needle Bug was a young lady who is a new up-and-coming needlepoint designer. Her name is Amy Poore and her company is A Poore Girl Paints Needlepoint Designs. Can't wait to tell you about her!

Until then... HUGS!  Robin
