I finished the other downstairs windowpane and the one in the door tonight. A little bit every day will get us closer to the finish. I have been worrying about the fact that I am not finishing each figure in the month I received it. I have a new plan. I will do as much as I can in the month I receive a character. I will put it aside at the end of the month when the next character arrives. I will continue this throughout the year. Then in 2011 I will return to each canvas in its given month and hopefully finish it! What do you think? I just can't keep beating myself up about it. This way I will enjoy each canvas and not feel guilty.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea. I have been feeling bad about getting bogged down with life and getting behind. I think your idea sounds like a great plan. Deep breath here and forging ahead. Anther great tip!! Thank You

I agree with you!! I am still working on the house but I am giving myself permission to NOT be upset that I can't seem to get to the characters yet.I find this blog so invaluable!! I know that when I finally get around to all of them, I will have AMY's words of wisdom & diagrams and this blog's helpful hints and photos to follow. I am so loving this Home Study--thanks to everyone involved!

Yeah! No more guilt.
ReplyDeleteYep. My plan exactly. The only problem is where on earth to store all these mounted projects... my unfinished closet (room) needs to be expanded!
ReplyDeleteI am perservering though... anticipating the raised stitches to be a challenge. But we are up to it! :)

The way I am looking at falling behind on some of the projects is that I signed up for the home project because I love needlepoint and it is my way of relaxing. It shouldn't be stressful at all! While I have finished both Stirha and Frank, I am already behind (in my mind) on the house. My son is getting married in three weeks and that takes precedence over anything else. So if I fall behind the schedule, so be it. I'll get back on track when I can. It bothered me a lot that I couldn't figure out how to stitch Frank's pants as called for in the stitch guide. But I let go of that and found a stitch that I thought looked appropriate and moved on. This is supposed to be fun and not guilt-ridden! I love the challenges and the opportunity to work with so many wonderful threads and stitches. Let's have fun!
ReplyDeleteJan, I think Robin is going to give us some tips on the raised stems.
ReplyDeleteClever way to handle the monthly canvases, Peggy. Not everyone will be able to finish one piece before the next arrives (life happens, after all) but this will enable you to work away without feeling guilty or pressured.
ReplyDeleteHello Everyone,
ReplyDeleteDD Lisa and I have promised each other that we will complete each challenge before moving on to the next one, no matter how tempting that might be. We have even gone so far as to ‘pinkie swear’ that if we do not follow through with this promise, great pain that involves poking under our fingernails with a #24 chenille needle will follow!!!
We got into trouble with the Nativity Series by not following through, and as a result have a many beautiful canvases and threads waiting to be completed!
Being the two crazy girls from Canada whose previous packages have been late arriving, we have given ourselves until the end of this weekend (15th) to complete Frank. For me, one leg of his pants is ‘still on the ground’ having lost my pattern, and a few bolts of lightning need to strike, but I am pretty sure that I will meet my goal and will soon be joining in the glittering fun.
Lisa is ‘seconds’ away from completing our charming friend.
Our plan…the completion of this challenge with no pressure. Simply joy and enthusiasm before putting on our construction boots and getting back to work on the house!
