What a face!

I am almost finished with Frank's face.  Make sure you have  plenty of time and patience.  And once you are done, be proud of yourself.  It is fun to see him come to life.  I've used a set of magnets to keep the diagram close to the canvas.  Its a cross stitch trick I that I like to use. Also, use your chenille needles to add wrinkle lines and other outlines.

Happy stitching!

  1. I think that's what I like best about Amy's 'recipes'. There is a real mix of degrees of difficulty. The challenge of counting threads in the face, simple stitches in the background and really tricky stitches like the bullion stitches. It really stretches your abilities.
I'm almost finished the background and am going to start the pumpkin tomorrow. I'm hoping that in daylight I will be able to distinguish the three tones. Right now I can't see more than two. YIKES!

  2. Peggy,

Lisa here! I am just putting the finishing touches on Stirha in anticipation of Frank's arrival, and have a question. For the "flying embers", did you simply use 2 strands of orange or did you double them in the needle?

They seem quite small and don't sit up on the logs when I use only two strands. Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated!

    Happy Saturday!

    Lisa

  3. Hi Lisa,

I must admit I haven't done the embers yet. Make sure you are making colonial knots. And then use as many strands as it takes to make them look good. There are no stitch Police here!
